Sports Injury Care Built Around Your Goals

Maybe it's an Achilles that flares every time you add mileage, a shoulder that complains on overhead lifts, or heel pain that greets you on your first steps out of bed. Sports injuries like these rarely settle down on their own while you keep pushing through them.

At Reset Chiropractic & Wellness Center, sports chiropractor Dr. Ted D'Amico works with adult athletes to find what's driving the pain and build a plan around your sport and your goals, not around taking you out of the game. Your plan can combine evidence-based chiropractic care, active rehab, and radial shockwave therapy when it's the right fit.

We've been helping Bloomingdale and the western suburbs stay active since 2008, and patients rate us 5.0 stars across 139 Google reviews. Dr. Ted is accepting new patients, and no referral is needed.

Radial Shockwave Therapy for Stubborn Tendon Pain

When a tendon has been irritated for months, rest and stretching often aren't enough to get it healing again. Radial shockwave therapy, a form of extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT), delivers acoustic pressure waves into the injured tissue to increase blood flow and stimulate your body's own repair response. It's a drug-free, non-surgical option for plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, rotator cuff and Achilles tendinopathy, and IT band pain.

Reset uses the Mark V OTG radial shockwave unit and performs more than 120 shockwave treatments every month. Sessions take 10 to 15 minutes, a typical course is 3 to 6 visits, and many patients notice improvement within the first few treatments. Shockwave is cash-pay, with no referral or insurance pre-authorization required.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

Your first appointment is a 40-minute New Patient Visit with Dr. Ted. It starts with a conversation about your injury, your sport, and what you're working toward, followed by a hands-on examination and movement assessment. Dr. Ted will start any treatment he can that same day.

From there, he'll walk you through what's going on and build a plan around your goals. Treatment may include joint adjustments, soft tissue therapy, guided exercises, targeted stretching, and shockwave therapy when it's a good fit.

That's the goal. Dr. Ted builds your treatment plan around your sport and your goals, not around taking you out of the game. If something needs to be modified while an injury heals, he'll explain why and what you can do instead.

Yes. Adult recreational athletes are a core part of our practice, including runners, marathoners, triathletes, CrossFitters, and powerlifters. Dr. Ted is a national-level Olympic weightlifter and a USA Weightlifting Level 2 Sports Performance Coach himself.

Shockwave therapy is a cash-pay treatment and isn't covered by most insurance plans. That also means there's no referral, prior authorization, or wait to get started. We're happy to discuss pricing before you begin.

Most conditions respond in 3 to 6 sessions, typically spaced one week apart. Some patients see significant relief after 1 or 2 treatments. You'll get a clearer estimate after your assessment.

Most patients describe it as deep pressure or mild tingling rather than sharp pain, and the intensity can be adjusted right away if it's uncomfortable.

We work with most major insurance plans for chiropractic services. Shockwave therapy and some other services are cash-pay. Visit our Insurance & Payment page or call 224-653-8094.
